Canggu Confidentials: Top 6 Breakfast Spots

Canggu Confidentials: Top 6 Breakfast Spots

I’m back. Finally. Where did I go? Well, if you follow me on any kind of social media, I have properly spammed your feed with bikini pics, food pics, drink pics, and dog pics all from my favorite island in Indonesia, Bali. I took a break from the blog, life, and basically anything that tied me to being accountable for something or someone. I fled the country and played a lead role in what felt like a two month long sequel to Eat, Pray, Love. Yes, I played Julia Roberts. In this movie I added my own little touch and became a certified Health Coach to add more credibility to Nourish with Natalia and learn more about food and the body.

I thought for awhile about how I wanted to form this trip into a blog post. What would make the most sense or what would be helpful to anyone looking to also “quit life” for a bit? I’m going to pause right here. If you’re playing around with this idea – do it. Don’t think, just go. Everything will start to magically fall into place. Okay, back to Bali.

With so much time there, I truly got to live like a local and find the absolute best places to eat, drink, tan, and then drink some more. With this new found knowledge, I’ve decided to bring you a series of blog posts called the “Canggu Confidentials”. This series will be a fully comprehensive guide to everything you need to know (and maybe some you don’t) to all things Canggu.

Canggu is best defined as a cesspool where all expats have moved permanently. The funny thing about Bali is no one EVER leaves unless it is to do your visa run once your 30 days are up. I was lucky and did the socio-cultural visa prior to arriving which gave me 60 days and I could extend up to 4 times. Email me for more visa questions: natalia@nourishwithnatalia.com

Canggu is a resort village on the south coast of Bali. It’s surrounded by terraced rice paddies and known for beaches like Canggu and Echo, with great surf, yoga studios, and the most attractive people you may ever see in your life. Although it is a condensed touristy town , I couldn’t love the “Gu” more.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and the first of the Canggu Confidentials series I wanted to share with you all. Follow this guide for the most instagrammable, amazing food your taste buds may ever have the pleasure experiencing.

Canggu Confidentials: Top 6 Breakfast Spots

  1. Quince Cafe

The most impressive cafe and concept store open for Breakfast and lunch Tuesday – Sunday. From the fresh ingredients to the friendly staff, you are easily won over within seconds of sitting down. The menu has a large selection for all dietary restrictions including gluten free options, vegan, vegetarians, airitarians, you name it – they have it. My favorite dish was a coconut flat white followed with the pumpkin toast.

     2. Motion Cafe

I may have eaten here everyday but there is good reason. They create custom meal plans, have a vegan and paleo friendly menu, and a go-to for fitness addicts and people that love to eat smart and clean. They support local farmers, use organic products, and are environmentally conscious. From their famous protein waffles to huge salad bowls, the hardest thing about Motion was deciding on what to order.

     3. Crate Cafe

Almost anyone who has been to Canggu has been to Crate. Crate is the socialite breakfast scene of the town – you see absolutely everyone here. Their comfy couches or big long tables create the perfect setting to share last night’s wild stories while devouring your HUGE and tasty breakfast. It’s an absolute must when waking up and will set you off on a great (and maybe still hungover) start.

    4. Nüde

Nüde says it best. They embrace healthy bodies, healthy mind mantras but it’s not worn like a badge of honour. They believe in no food nasties, but eating a little naughty now and again is ok. One day they like a healthy chicken and avocado salad with a green juice, then the next they may indulge in a pulled pork burger with a bintang. Balance. They were also my go-to spot for a delicious coffee and a protein ball while I worked on my health coach program in the afternoons.

    5. Oka’s Bakery & Cafe

A gluten-free bakery that may quite possibly also be heaven. Oka’s is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and has a menu jammed packed with variety. Their mouth-watering smoothies is what drew me here everyday for my post-workout meal. They also sell fresh produce, loaves, and desserts for an easy take-away option.

   6. I Am Vegan Babe

As the name states, I am Vegan babe is an all vegan cafe that won my heart with one bite of their delicious smoothie creations. The wifi is some of the best in town so if you are working remote, this will be your spot. Their upstairs has a ton of seating with outlets for your laptops and gorgeous views of the terraces. Work away while eating some of the most amazing food the island has to offer. *pro tip: reward yourself with their vegan cake – it’s worth the calories.
